Adding to the woes, I noticed the stairs were narrow and challenging for anyone with larger luggage, making the transition from the station quite cumbersome. Lastly, the bathroom could use significant cleaning attention as it didn't feel as fresh as it should have, which really dampened the overall enjoyment of my stay.

my stay at ohto ryokan was quite pleasant. the location is ideal, being just around the corner from the keihan train station, and only 1 km from kyoto station. i loved the spacious family room with a private bathroom—perfect for relaxing after a long day. the owner was really sweet and accommodating, making us feel right at home.

It was just an optimal selection for a short stay in Kyoto with fantastic value for money. The broken tea set in the room was a small letdown but didn't ruin my experience. Make sure to pack light since there's no elevator to carry your luggage up the stairs.

staying at ohto ryokan was nice. the location is great, just a 15-minute walk to jr kyoto station and close to the famous sanjusangendo and fushimi inari. the host lady was super kind and let us store our bags after check-out, which was really helpful. the room was clean and comfortable, giving us a cozy experience.
